Wellington Sports Med & Willis Street Physiotherapy are proud to be working in partnership with APM Workcare to deliver ACC’s Pain Management Service.
Who is this service for?
The service is designed to assist people who are having difficulty with managing their pain following an ACC injury.
The service aims to help people understand what factors could be contributing to their pain and to find ways to better manage the pain and reduce the impact it is having on their daily life. It could be that the pain is impacting on someone’s sleep, their mood levels or ability to complete their usual daily activities.
What does the service involve?
The design of the service depends on what is needed by each individual person. The physiotherapist will be able to discuss what services will be the best for you.
At the beginning of the service, all participants are sent a range of questionnaires to help us better understand the impacts their pain is having on their lives and guide their treatment pathway. This treatment pathway is designed to be multidisciplinary and may also include support from a psychologist or a medication review.
All of our pain management services will include guided physiotherapy exercises and education about pain. We will often discuss topics like sleep hygiene, relaxation, mindfulness, breathing exercises and advice on lifestyle changes.
How to access this service
If eligible, your ACC case manager will need to refer you for a pain management service via one of our preferred providers.
